How to Get Started Guest Blogging

Guest Blogging

Guest blogging is a great way to build your profile online. No successful blog has ever been built without the collaboration of other bloggers in the same niche.

Blogging is a team game and so this is a great way to play the team game effectively.

Blogging on guest sites is the process of writing a high quality, unique post and asking another blogger to post it on their blog for you.

They get some quality content to add to their blog, and you get a link from a niche related blog to your blog content. It is a win win for bloggers.

Finding Blogs to Post on

To find potential blogging sites you can search in Google for YOUR NICHE + GUEST BLOG and this should return some opportunities for you.

What you need to do next is to create a ‘killer post’ that is likely to be accepted. Then contact the blogging site owner and ask if they will post it for you. Some will say yes, some will say no.

It’s well worth reading this article about how to behave http://www.warrencass.com/guest-blogging-with-attitude/

The important thing is this……. send unique, high quality content to each blog owner….. don’t send the same content because it won’t be published as often and you will at best just receive back-links from a lot of identical content…. which is bad.

You want to build a group of guest posts that are all of very high quality, and all unique, quality content so that your blog gets the maximum benefit from each post. Google will reward you with higher rankings and more traffic and posting your content on different blogs is all about getting you more traffic.

Guest Blogging Services

We would recommend avoiding automated guest blogging services because they will duplicate your content, or even worse, possibly ‘spin’ your content making it lower quality and therefore of far less value to you.

Read our post on the top 10 reasons you shouldn’t automate your guest blogging

They also tend to submit your content to lower quality sites that will accept any old rubbish, meaning that your efforts will be diluted considerably.

It is better to create one killer quality blog post per week and get it published on a quality site than 10 low quality ones……. QUALITY QUALITY QUALITY!!

How to Leverage your Blog Posts

Once you have written and published a blog post on a high quality niche related blog, what should you do next?

We recommend leveraging the power of that in bound link that you have created, by adding some links of your own to it.

You can of course sit and wait for links to maybe occur naturally, but you might be waiting for a long time.

Instead, be proactive and create a few posts of your own on different Web 2.0 sites such as Squidoo, Blogger, livejournal etc and link into the new post.

Google likes to see links from pages with links, rather than pages that look like they were created purely for the purpose of linking, so here is what you should do for the best effect;

  • Publish a Guest Blog Post
  • Create a few unique, high quality Web 2.0 posts (from a niched Web 2.0 site)
  • Bookmark, Social Media and Ping those Web 2.0 posts

Once you have done that, you will have created a guest post which will already have a little authority and will be indexed in search.

Your new post will have more authority as a result and the effect on your original blog post will be significant.
