How to build a reader base
Building a reader base of loyal blog readers is the main aim of your blog. Every time you post content, you want to have thousands of interested people see your post and absorb the information in it, and the only way to do that is to build a reader base.
More importantly, you want some of them to click on your affiliate links so that you get a financial return for all your hard work and effort.
Build your Readership
Assuming that you are posting every day, at least once, and are then ‘pinging’ your blog so that the search engines know that new content has been published, then your search engine traffic will begin to build.
Remember to share your new posts socially with as many social networks as possible. The more people you are connected to on each social network, the more people will be aware of your posts and will visit your blog, allowing you to continue to build a reader base of interested people.
Bookmark your new post with as many bookmarking sites as you can. Bookmarking sites will build your footfall and readership.
Remember also to make friends with related blogs and link to them. Don’t be afraid of losing traffic to them at this stage, just think of it as piggybacking on the back of their success and traffic.
Building links from similar sites and blogs will build a reader base and your traffic, so keep doing it.
Keep building your email list. In time your list will become a powerful tool for driving traffic to your website or blog. Your list is the key to making long term money from your blog, so gather as many email addresses as you can.
Write interesting and useful content. Keep writing great content and you will naturally build a reader base of faithful followers.
If and only if your content is good quality will you succeed. If you offer great tips, and advice on your niche subject then people won’t mind or care that you might be earning when they click through to offers that they need and want.
If you only post with the intention of selling products, then your readership will know that that is what you are doing, so keep offering good value.
In the early days, the bulk of your traffic will come only when you make a fresh post and share it socially and via bookmarks.
